From the Garden to the Kitchen
Yardboy, June is the month that graduation celebrations abound, and this cheese ball recipe is sure to become a favorite with our readers. It serves 15-20, can be done ahead and is always a winner. It’s a good way to use those onion chives that need trimming back, too.
CELEBRATION CHEESE BALL (Process in food processor or with mixer.)
2 cups extra sharp cheddar
8 oz cream cheese, softened
4 oz (1 cup) blue cheese, crumbled
½ stick butter, softened or margarine
1 good tablespoon Worcestershire
Tabasco to taste – start with a teaspoon
1 large garlic clove, minced
Palm full of fresh parsley, chopped
½ cup chives (chopped) or substitute green onions
Now you can either roll this into a ball or pack into crocks.
Serve with crackers, crudités, bagel chips, etc.
Gilding the Lily: Roll in fresh chopped parsley and minced chives before serving.
